HOW LONG IS 100 YEARS?

Ah—1906—it seems just like

yesterday. Well...not exactly!

   Here’s a brief time capsule

from that wonderful year when

Willamette Pattern Works

was founded:


- The Chicago Cubs won a record

  116 games and made it to the

  World Series

- The forward pass was legalized;

  field goals wereworth 4 points;

  the NFL did not yet exist

- Albert Einstein introduced his

  Theory of Relativity

- The Wright Brothers were award-

  ed a patent for an “aeroplane”

- The world’s first cinema

  opened—in Paris

- President Teddy Roosevelt signed

  the National Monuments Act, which

  preserved many natural treasures,

  including the Grand Canyon

- The first phone number for

  Willamette Pattern Works was

  only three digits long: 793.

  As an interesting illustration
